SEPTEMBER 2025 Greenwich Pickleball NEWS
The 4 NEW outdoor pickleball courts at Cohen Center are budgeted at $625K. It took over five years to get the necessary funds approved by the Town of Greenwich BET.
The Pickleball Court Request For Bid (RFB 7902, bid ID 549) was issued on July 2, 2025, and closed on 7/23/2025.
View the court maps / plan here. This is the NEW design with the 7 foot sidelines.
The RFB Bids were tabulated on July 24, 2025, view the bids here.
The town has been negotiating the contract and we expect it to be signed shortly.
The planned Fall start could be iffy given the temperature requirements of the materials used in court construction. Fingers crossed for Fall!
LOUGHLIN Avenue Courts will be under repair and closed from September 15 through 20, 2025.
Indoor Drop in play continues at the Cohen Center & the Bendheim Western Civic Center. An updated Fall schedule has been posted for Cohen, but not for Bendheim (as of Sept. 9).
To keep Pickleball in Greenwich welcoming, inclusive and joyful, the town has implemented a Pickleball CODE OF ETIQUETTE. This action was taken in response to growing conflicts and general lack of civility among players.
Fingers crossed for new Outdoor pickleball courts in Fall of 2025! See the updated above.

History of Pickleball in Greenwich.
Pickleball was created in Bainbridge WA in 1965, on a backyard badminton court, with a wiffleball and ping pong paddes.* But Pickleball was only introduced (officially) in Greenwich CT in 2010 through the efforts of USA Pickleball Association Ambassador, Betsy Underhill.
